Pro Tools 11 – setting up a multi-channel, multi-output Virtual Instrument Using East West PLAY

Here is a short tutorial on setting up a mulit-output Virtual Instrument in Pro Tools 11 – using EAST WEST PLAY.

This allows you to record MIDI data on discrete tracks, and have that data trigger separate channels in the VI (Play) and have that audio returned on discrete auxiliary tracks. Since the audio returns on discrete tracks, you can mix volume / eq / add ambiences as need for each particular sound instead of having everything mashed together.

Here is how to do it (and keep in mind that this wonderful musical sample could use a lot of finessing to make it really sound musical):
